The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the master’s thesis of the student Noor Issam Abdul Mohsen<\/em>, titled: “Expression Levels of miR-195 and miR-206 Genes and Their Relationship with Serum Hormone Levels ER-PR-HER2 in a Sample of Iraqi Women with Breast Cancer”<\/strong>, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ismail Hussein Aziz<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The study aimed to evaluate the expression profile of miR-195<\/em> and miR-206<\/em> in serum samples from Iraqi breast cancer patients and to investigate the relationship between miRNA expression and certain clinical pathological features.<\/p>\n

During the study, the expression of miR-195<\/em> and miR-206<\/em> was examined in a sample of Iraqi breast cancer patients and its association with the demographic distribution of patients and disease characteristics. This may provide valuable insights into the diagnosis and progression of the disease.<\/p>\n

The study results indicated that miR-195<\/em> and miR-206<\/em> may play a role in detecting cancer stages and its development.<\/p>\n

The study recommended investigating the underlying mechanisms of the differential expression of miR-195<\/em> in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC)<\/strong> compared to other subtypes. Understanding why miR-195<\/em> is upregulated in TNBC but regulated differently in other subtypes could provide deeper insights into the tumor biology specific to each subtype.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the study recommended exploring the potential of miR-195<\/em> as a prognostic marker for breast cancer (BC) progression<\/strong>, especially in its transition from upregulation to downregulation as the disease advances to stage four. It also suggested evaluating the combined diagnostic potential of miR-195<\/em> and miR-206<\/em> as a panel for early detection of BC progression beyond stage one.<\/p>\n
