{"id":2166,"date":"2025-03-22T12:47:54","date_gmt":"2025-03-22T12:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2166"},"modified":"2025-03-22T12:47:54","modified_gmt":"2025-03-22T12:47:54","slug":"genetic-engineering-discusses-the-study-of-mesenchymal-stem-cells-from-the-umbilical-cord-and-the-umbilical-cord-insertion-region-in-cesarean-births-in-iraq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2166","title":{"rendered":"Genetic Engineering Discusses the Study of Mesenchymal Stem Cells from the Umbilical Cord and the Umbilical Cord Insertion Region in Cesarean Births in Iraq"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"168\" data-end=\"601\">The <strong data-start=\"172\" data-end=\"280\">Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad<\/strong> discussed the <strong data-start=\"295\" data-end=\"314\">master\u2019s thesis<\/strong> of student <strong data-start=\"326\" data-end=\"350\">Mustafa Abdullah Ali<\/strong>, titled:<br data-start=\"359\" data-end=\"362\" \/><strong data-start=\"362\" data-end=\"491\">&#8220;Study of Mesenchymal Stem Cells from the Umbilical Cord and the Umbilical Cord Insertion Region in Cesarean Births in Iraq.&#8221;<\/strong><br data-start=\"491\" data-end=\"494\" \/>The research was conducted under the supervision of <strong data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"598\">Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Malik Ali<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"629\"><strong data-start=\"607\" data-end=\"627\">Study Objectives<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"630\" data-end=\"1091\">The study aimed to <strong data-start=\"649\" data-end=\"672\">isolate and culture<\/strong> two groups of stem cells obtained from the <strong data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"734\">umbilical cord<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"743\" data-end=\"810\">point of connection between the umbilical cord and the placenta<\/strong>. It also aimed to compare the levels of stem cells using <strong data-start=\"868\" data-end=\"917\">quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR)<\/strong> to evaluate the expression of <strong data-start=\"948\" data-end=\"993\">stem cell markers (CD90, CD73, and CD105)<\/strong> and assess their <strong data-start=\"1011\" data-end=\"1049\">osteogenic differentiation ability<\/strong> by introducing differentiation factors.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1093\" data-end=\"1115\"><strong data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1113\">Key Findings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1116\" data-end=\"1311\">\ud83d\udd2c The study detected the presence of <strong data-start=\"1154\" data-end=\"1203\">mesenchymal stem cells in the placental plate<\/strong> on the fetal side of the placental tissues, showing promising results through gene expression evaluation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1313\" data-end=\"1641\">It also identified the presence of <strong data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1384\">hematopoietic-like stem cells<\/strong> within the placental plate on the fetal side of the placenta. Gene expression analysis revealed an <strong data-start=\"1484\" data-end=\"1543\">initial downregulation of mesenchymal stem cell markers<\/strong> after adding <strong data-start=\"1557\" data-end=\"1595\">osteogenic differentiation factors<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"1599\" data-end=\"1627\">LG-DMEM on the sixth day<\/strong> of culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1643\" data-end=\"1827\">\ud83e\uddec The study confirmed that the <strong data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1708\">placenta is a valuable source<\/strong> of both <strong data-start=\"1717\" data-end=\"1761\">mesenchymal and hematopoietic stem cells<\/strong>, depending on the specific region from which they are isolated.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1854\"><strong data-start=\"1833\" data-end=\"1852\">Recommendations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1855\" data-end=\"2212\"><strong data-start=\"1858\" data-end=\"1881\">Comparative studies<\/strong> should be conducted to <strong data-start=\"1905\" data-end=\"1946\">evaluate similarities and differences<\/strong> in the abundance and characteristics of mesenchymal stem cells from <strong data-start=\"2015\" data-end=\"2036\">different regions<\/strong> of the <strong data-start=\"2044\" data-end=\"2075\">placenta and umbilical cord<\/strong> in humans.
