{"id":2177,"date":"2025-03-30T13:09:06","date_gmt":"2025-03-30T13:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2177"},"modified":"2025-03-30T13:09:06","modified_gmt":"2025-03-30T13:09:06","slug":"genetic-engineering-holds-a-scientific-symposium-on-cancer-vaccines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2177","title":{"rendered":"Genetic Engineering Holds a Scientific Symposium on Cancer Vaccines"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"75\" data-end=\"508\">The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium titled <strong data-start=\"224\" data-end=\"244\">\u201cCancer Vaccine\u201d<\/strong>, led by <strong data-start=\"253\" data-end=\"298\">Assistant Professor Dr. Ammar Kazem Jawad<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"305\" data-end=\"345\">Assistant Lecturer Farah Abdul Wahab<\/strong> as the chair and <strong data-start=\"363\" data-end=\"406\">Assistant Lecturer Fatima Hussein Abbas<\/strong> as the rapporteur, with the participation of several professors and staff members of the institute.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"510\" data-end=\"738\">The symposium aimed to educate participants on the science behind cancer vaccines, including their <strong data-start=\"609\" data-end=\"645\">preventive and therapeutic types<\/strong>, and to highlight the role of the immune system in identifying and combating cancer cells.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"740\" data-end=\"764\">The symposium covered an <strong data-start=\"770\" data-end=\"805\">introduction to cancer vaccines<\/strong>, their types, and the importance of their development in fighting the disease, the <strong data-start=\"893\" data-end=\"922\">role of the immune system<\/strong> in recognizing and eliminating cancer cells and how cancer cells manipulate the immune system to evade immune attacks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1127\">Additionally, the symposium explained the different cancer vaccines, including:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1128\" data-end=\"1443\">\n<li data-start=\"1128\" data-end=\"1330\"><strong data-start=\"1130\" data-end=\"1168\">Preventive (prophylactic) vaccines<\/strong>, such as the <strong data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1220\">human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine<\/strong>, which protects against cervical cancer, and the <strong data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1293\">hepatitis B vaccine<\/strong>, which helps prevent liver cancer.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1443\"><strong data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1373\">Therapeutic (immunotherapy) vaccines<\/strong>, which stimulate the immune system to directly target cancer cells.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1445\" data-end=\"1660\">The symposium also addressed various <strong data-start=\"1482\" data-end=\"1512\">challenges and limitations<\/strong> in cancer vaccine development, including the <strong data-start=\"1558\" data-end=\"1602\">difficulty in targeting all cancer types<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1607\" data-end=\"1657\">variability in immune responses among patients<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1662\" data-end=\"1898\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Finally, the symposium recommended <strong data-start=\"1697\" data-end=\"1731\">supporting scientific research<\/strong> in the field of cancer vaccines, increasing awareness campaigns on their importance, and encouraging participation in <strong data-start=\"1850\" data-end=\"1869\">clinical trials<\/strong> to test new cancer vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2179&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium &#8230; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":37,"featured_media":2178,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[14,17,7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2177","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-archives","category-last-news","category-a-a"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.7 -
