{"id":2239,"date":"2025-04-14T23:02:30","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T23:02:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2239"},"modified":"2025-04-14T23:02:30","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T23:02:30","slug":"genetic-engineering-institute-discusses-the-effect-of-chitosan-nanoparticles-prepared-using-cinnamon-bark-extract-on-the-gene-expression-of-virulence-factors-in-klebsiella-pneumoniae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2239","title":{"rendered":"Genetic Engineering Institute Discusses the Effect of Chitosan Nanoparticles Prepared Using Cinnamon Bark Extract on the Gene Expression of Virulence Factors in Klebsiella pneumoniae"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"190\" data-end=\"609\">The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the PhD dissertation of student Ziyad Shallal Abbas, titled:<br data-start=\"369\" data-end=\"372\" \/><strong data-start=\"372\" data-end=\"537\">&#8220;The Effect of Chitosan Nanoparticles Prepared Using <em data-start=\"427\" data-end=\"446\">Cinnamomum cassia<\/em> Bark Extract on the Gene Expression of Some Virulence Factors in <em data-start=\"512\" data-end=\"535\">Klebsiella pneumoniae<\/em><\/strong>,\u201d<br data-start=\"539\" data-end=\"542\" \/>under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Imad Hamdi Jassim.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"967\">The study aimed to prepare nanoparticles using cinnamon bark extract and to evaluate their inhibitory effectiveness against <em data-start=\"735\" data-end=\"758\">Klebsiella pneumoniae<\/em>, a bacterium responsible for urinary tract infections. The expected results indicated an inhibitory effect of the nanoparticles on the studied bacteria and on the gene expression of certain virulence factors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"969\" data-end=\"1120\">The study demonstrated that cinnamon is one of the most widely used spices globally and is a valuable source of many bioactive antibacterial compounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1122\" data-end=\"1156\">Key findings of the study include:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1689\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1293\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1293\">A high percentage of <em data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1197\">K. pneumoniae<\/em> isolates from urinary tract infections were multidrug-resistant and strong biofilm producers.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1294\" data-end=\"1399\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1297\" data-end=\"1399\">The study identified the presence of biofilm-forming genes in all examined <em data-start=\"1372\" data-end=\"1387\">K. pneumoniae<\/em> isolates.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1592\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1403\" data-end=\"1592\">The green-synthesized CHE-CSNPs (chitosan nanoparticles with <em data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1475\">C. cassia<\/em> extract) showed significant antibacterial activity against <em data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1550\">K. pneumoniae<\/em> isolates from urinary tract infections.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1689\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1596\" data-end=\"1689\">The study revealed high levels of flavonoids and phenolic compounds in the prepared extracts.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1691\" data-end=\"1966\">The research recommended further investigation into the effect of CHE-CSPs and CHE on the expression of other virulence genes in <em data-start=\"1820\" data-end=\"1835\">K. pneumoniae<\/em>, as well as exploring their antioxidant, antidiabetic, antifungal, and antiviral activities in both in vivo and in vitro settings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1968\" data-end=\"2004\">Additional recommendations included:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2006\" data-end=\"2237\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2006\" data-end=\"2088\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2008\" data-end=\"2088\">Exploring the cardioprotective and cytoprotective effects of CHE-CSPs and CHE.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2089\" data-end=\"2159\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2091\" data-end=\"2159\">Studying the pharmacological impact of <em data-start=\"2130\" data-end=\"2141\">C. cassia<\/em> essential oils.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2160\" data-end=\"2237\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2162\" data-end=\"2237\">Investigating the angiogenesis-stimulating effects of <em data-start=\"2216\" data-end=\"2227\">C. cassia<\/em> extracts.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2234&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the PhD dissertation &#8230; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":37,"featured_media":2231,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[14,17,7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2239","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-archives","category-last-news","category-a-a"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
