Prof. Dr. Maha Ibrahim Saleh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"455\" data-end=\"754\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of yellow <em data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"528\">Tecoma<\/em> leaf extract against <em data-start=\"550\" data-end=\"574\">Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/em> isolates and to investigate the gene expression levels of <em data-start=\"633\" data-end=\"639\">mexA<\/em> and <em data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"650\">mexB<\/em> in <em data-start=\"654\" data-end=\"678\">Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/em> before and after treatment with the ethanolic extract of <em data-start=\"736\" data-end=\"744\">Tecoma<\/em> leaves.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"756\" data-end=\"957\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">A total of 100 clinical samples were collected from burn and wound patients attending treatment at Al-Nasiriya General Hospital, Thi-Qar Province, between September 2024 and January 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"959\" data-end=\"1134\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The results showed that the isolates were resistant to most of the antibiotics tested in this study, and ten multidrug-resistant isolates were selected for further analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1323\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Yellow <em data-start=\"1143\" data-end=\"1151\">Tecoma<\/em> leaves were collected from the garden of the Veterinary Medicine Complex, University of Baghdad, and the ethanolic extract was prepared using a magnetic stirring method.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1325\" data-end=\"1516\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The antioxidant activity assay revealed free radical scavenging rates of 95.70, 91.87, 76.35, 68.59, and 45.11% at concentrations of 10, 5, 2.5, 1.25, and 0.625 mg\/ml, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1518\" data-end=\"1611\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study concluded that the genes <em data-start=\"1553\" data-end=\"1559\">mexA<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1564\" data-end=\"1570\">mexB<\/em> were present in all selected isolates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1613\" data-end=\"1918\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">It also recommended that, given the significant reduction in the gene expression levels of <em data-start=\"1704\" data-end=\"1710\">mexA<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1715\" data-end=\"1721\">mexB<\/em> after treatment with the ethanolic extract compared to untreated isolates, the extract likely inhibits the efflux pump system responsible for antibiotic resistance in <em data-start=\"1893\" data-end=\"1917\">Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2415&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;img_link_large&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;2414&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; onclick=&#8221;img_link_large&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the master&#8217;s thesis &#8230; <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":37,"featured_media":2413,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"no","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[14,17,7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2417","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-archives","category-last-news","category-a-a"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.8 -
