{"id":2512,"date":"2025-09-02T20:53:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T20:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2512"},"modified":"2025-09-02T20:53:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T20:53:15","slug":"genetic-engineering-discusses-the-association-between-proteus-mirabilis-infection-and-vitamin-d-receptor-gene-polymorphisms-foki-apai-in-complications-of-kidney-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2512","title":{"rendered":"Genetic Engineering Discusses the Association Between Proteus mirabilis Infection and Vitamin D Receptor Gene Polymorphisms (FokI, ApaI) in Complications of Kidney Failure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"71\" data-end=\"465\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies \/ University of Baghdad discussed the master\u2019s thesis of the student <em data-start=\"220\" data-end=\"242\">Hind Ibrahim Khudair<\/em>, entitled: \u201cThe Association Between <em data-start=\"281\" data-end=\"300\">Proteus mirabilis<\/em> Infection and Vitamin D Receptor Gene Polymorphisms (FokI, ApaI) in Complications of Kidney Failure\u201d, supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Zainab Hikmat Aboud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"467\" data-end=\"788\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">This study aimed to explore the possible association between VDR gene polymorphisms \u2014 SNP1 (rs731236 C&gt;A), SNP2 (rs7975232 G&gt;T), and SNP3 (rs11574005 G&gt;A) \u2014 along with VDR (RFD) and kidney failure disease, as well as the relationship between <em data-start=\"709\" data-end=\"723\">P. mirabilis<\/em> urinary tract infection and the development of kidney failure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"790\" data-end=\"1074\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The demographic study showed that among the 48 patients included in the current research, the age group (50\u201360 years) accounted for 35.4% of kidney failure cases. Females were found to be more affected than males, with infection rates of 58.1% in females compared to 43.4% in males.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1361\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">Renal function test results (urea, creatinine, calcium, sodium, protein, albumin, and vitamin D) indicated a significant increase in blood urea levels (149 mg\/dL) in kidney failure patients compared to healthy individuals (31 mg\/dL), with a highly significant difference (p = 0.001).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1363\" data-end=\"1794\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study concluded that PCR results confirmed the presence of the genes (<em data-start=\"1437\" data-end=\"1456\">hpmA, pmfA, luxS,<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1467\">mrpA<\/em>) in all isolates (100%). Total RNA of <em data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"1525\">Proteus mirabilis<\/em> was extracted using the Trizol purification kit and converted into cDNA, which was subsequently amplified to investigate the genetic expression of (<em data-start=\"1674\" data-end=\"1693\">hpmA, pmfA, luxS,<\/em> and <em data-start=\"1698\" data-end=\"1704\">mrpA<\/em>).
