{"id":2958,"date":"2026-02-27T09:04:05","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T09:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2958"},"modified":"2026-02-27T09:04:05","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T09:04:05","slug":"genetic-engineering-discusses-hormonal-disorders-oxidative-stress-and-trace-element-imbalance-in-diabetic-patients-with-kidney-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2958","title":{"rendered":"Genetic Engineering discusses hormonal disorders, oxidative stress, and trace element imbalance in diabetic patients with kidney failure."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"185\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies<\/span><\/span> at the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">University of Baghdad<\/span><\/span> discussed the Higher Diploma research report submitted by student Shireen Muslim Issa, entitled:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"187\" data-end=\"320\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><strong data-start=\"187\" data-end=\"317\">\u201cHormonal Disorders, Oxidative Stress, and Trace Element Imbalance in Diabetic Patients with Kidney Failure: A Clinical Study\u201d<\/strong>,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"322\" data-end=\"380\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">under the supervision of Professor Dr. Issam Fadhil Alwan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"382\" data-end=\"800\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study aimed to evaluate the levels of hormonal disturbances and oxidative stress markers, as well as to measure trace element levels in patients with diabetes suffering from chronic kidney failure, and to compare them with a healthy control group. It also examined the relationship between these variables and kidney function indicators, including estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), urea, and creatinine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"802\" data-end=\"1103\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study included measuring levels of parathyroid hormone and prolactin, assessing oxidative stress markers, and determining serum concentrations of iron, zinc, and copper. Statistical correlations among these variables were analyzed to identify their role in the progression of diabetic nephropathy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1105\" data-end=\"1418\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The results showed a significant increase in certain hormone levels and oxidative stress markers among patients compared to the control group, accompanied by a noticeable decrease in some trace elements.
