{"id":2969,"date":"2026-02-27T09:09:24","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T09:09:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2969"},"modified":"2026-02-27T09:09:24","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T09:09:24","slug":"the-institute-of-genetic-engineering-and-biotechnology-for-postgraduate-studies-discusses-a-phd-dissertation-on-the-molecular-and-immunological-evaluation-of-green-synthesized-silver-nanoparticles-aga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=2969","title":{"rendered":"The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies discusses a PhD dissertation on the molecular and immunological evaluation of green-synthesized silver nanoparticles against clinical isolates of uropathogenic Escherichia coli."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"150\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies<\/span><\/span> discussed the PhD dissertation submitted by doctoral candidate Mohammed Muhsin Abdul-Janabi, entitled:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"152\" data-end=\"301\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cMolecular and Immunological Evaluation of Green-Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles Against Clinical Isolates of Uropathogenic Escherichia coli\u201d,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"303\" data-end=\"432\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">under the supervision of Professor Dr. Kamel Matshar Al-Jubouri and external supervisor Professor Dr. Abdul Wahab Badiwi Hussein.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"434\" data-end=\"785\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study aimed to evaluate the molecular and immunological efficacy of garlic extract and green-synthesized silver nanoparticles against uropathogenic <em data-start=\"586\" data-end=\"604\">Escherichia coli<\/em>, particularly antibiotic-resistant strains, and to assess their potential to reduce virulence factors and modulate inflammatory responses as a promising alternative to antibiotics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"1351\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The research included detection of the virulence genes stx1 and fimH, and analysis of fimH gene expression using qRT-PCR. It also involved the preparation and characterization of silver nanoparticles, testing their antibacterial and antioxidant activity. On the immunological side, a protein antigen was prepared and a Prime\u2013Boost\u2013Challenge immunization model was applied, with measurement of immune indicators including IgG, TNF-\u03b1, IL-6, and IL-1\u03b2, as well as evaluation of liver and kidney function to confirm biocompatibility and safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1353\" data-end=\"1960\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study recommended expanding research on the molecular and immunological applications of nanotechnology and plant extracts as promising alternatives for combating antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains. It emphasized the need for broader clinical and molecular studies to verify long-term biocompatibility and to better understand the mechanisms of molecular and immune effects before practical application.
