{"id":3068,"date":"2026-05-24T09:24:31","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T09:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=3068"},"modified":"2026-05-24T09:24:31","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T09:24:31","slug":"institute-of-genetic-engineering-discusses-the-molecular-detection-of-virulence-genes-in-helicobacter-pylori-associated-with-gastrointestinal-diseases-among-iraqi-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.ige.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=3068","title":{"rendered":"Institute of Genetic Engineering discusses the molecular detection of virulence genes in Helicobacter pylori associated with gastrointestinal diseases among Iraqi patients."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"413\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies<\/span><\/span> \/ <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">University of Baghdad<\/span><\/span> discussed the master\u2019s thesis submitted by the student \u201cIbrahim Ali Abbas,\u201d entitled:<\/span><br data-start=\"163\" data-end=\"166\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">\u201cMolecular Detection of Virulence Genes (ureB, sabA, iceA1, and vacA) in <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Helicobacter pylori<\/span><\/span> Associated with Gastrointestinal Diseases among Iraqi Patients,\u201d under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. \u201cZainab Hikmat Aboud.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"415\" data-end=\"1044\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The current study was designed to detect the gastric bacterium <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Helicobacter pylori<\/span><\/span> and characterize its virulence-associated genes, including (ureB, sabA, iceA1, and vacA), in gastric biopsy samples collected from Iraqi patients suffering from gastrointestinal diseases. The study also aimed to determine the prevalence rate of this bacterium and the allelic variation of the vacA genotypes, as well as to evaluate their association with clinical, endoscopic, and histopathological findings. In addition, the study measured cytokine levels to investigate the inflammatory response associated with the infection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1507\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\">The study recommended increasing the number of gastric biopsy samples collected during endoscopy, particularly from the gastric antrum and the gastric angle, in order to overcome the uneven distribution of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Helicobacter pylori<\/span><\/span>.
