The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies/University of Baghdad held a workshop entitled “Quality Education within Sustainable Development Goals,” by the Quality Assurance Unit at the Institute. The session was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Taiba Fares, while the workshop lecture was delivered. By the Director of the Quality Assurance Department, Professor Dr. Bushra Jassim Mohammed.
The workshop was attended by the Dean of the Institute, Assistant Professor Dr. Saif Daoud Al-Ahmar, his Assistant for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Ismail Hussein Aziz, and a number of the Institute’s teachers and employees.
The workshop aimed to highlight greater importance in the field of collecting development data and highlighting the differences between genders and by age groups in a reliable manner to enable systematic follow-up of the progress achieved.
The workshop explained that the sustainable development agenda adopted, starting from the year 2015 until 2030, an integrated development plan with 17 goals to eradicate poverty, address climate change, combat gender inequality, and address many of the levels that countries committed to and were unable to achieve by the year 2015 as planned. in the Millennium Development Goals agenda.
She indicated that there has been a decline, contrary to what was expected, as this report focused primarily on knowing the limits of these levels of development on which Iraq stands and the unstable conditions caused by poverty, unemployment, inequality, the spread of diseases, and the increasing numbers of displaced people.
The workshop determined how to achieve quality education at all levels of education.
It also discussed teacher specifications at all levels, how to develop a plan for educational quality requirements, followed policies, and curriculum development.
The workshop recommended the requirements of the teaching profession, which include academic competence, certification, university sobriety, good reputation, academic history, integrity, morals, skills, passing human development courses, placing the applicant under real probation for a period of no less than three years, and working on a temporary contract.
