The program provides a strong theoretical and practical knowledge of key areas of Biotechnology and its applications. There is a research module to help students survey literature, analyze data and make critical assessments of scientific reports, papers or research proposals, and to plan their own research program.

Biotechnology is essential to the advancements in agriculture, health and medicine, food and non-food products, and environmental protection. Therefore, Iraq must prepare researchers who are well-equipped and skillful in the latest technologies and biotechnological innovations to contribute to the sustainable development, health, and economic growth of the country and the world. Promotions include diverse and multidisciplinary sciences, such as recombinant DNA technology, applied immunology, and genomics.
