The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies was established to achieve leadership and innovation in the field of genetic engineering research and biotechnologies, and to be a pioneer in creating a university environment that meets the aspirations of the country’s students, enhances student activities and raises the level of students’ thinking scientifically, cognitively, ethically and behaviorally, in terms of adopting and developing performance standards to measure the scientific and applied level of the university student by achieving the norms of international accreditation of universities in all development programs. And the graduation of a generation distinguished by its scientific and mind dimensions and being able to accomplish what is assigned to it, and interact with scientific updates and laboratory tools in force in all countries of the world, and we aspire to enhance communication in all academic and cognitive fields and integration in the curriculum, sobriety in structure, competition in the development, and participation in raising the rates of cooperation between educational institutions for their integration.
The Research Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies – University of Baghdad is committed to preparing a graduate capable of competition and innovation locally and regionally and excellence in scientific and applied research to serve the community and develop the environment.
The Institute aims to achieve the following horizons and objectives:
1 – Transfer and assimilation of biotechnology according to a practical scientific plan.
2 – Optimal use of the Institute’s capabilities in the three levels of transfer and absorption, represented in education, training, research and application.
3- Gathering research cadres from various scientific and technical disciplines in a multidisciplinary structure.
4 – Adapting to the changes in the relationship between science and technology in terms of reducing the time period between detection and application and access to the beneficiaries by conducting research in accordance with the agreements concluded to solve the field problems faced by these bodies.
5 – Providing technical consultations, feasibility studies and field participation to solve the problems facing the public and private business sectors, in addition to the service bodies and research centers in the ministries and concerned bodies.
6 – Providing production models for the optimal use of genetic engineering and biotechnology with an economic and guidance goal.
7 – Granting higher certificates in addition to preparing and training technical cadres capable of assisting in the implementation of genetic engineering and biotechnology programs and projects at the Institute and other bodies, as well as raising the research efficiency of specialists, provided that these programs are local, external or joint.
8 – Provide and facilitate the necessary means of scientific openness to institutes, centers and international scientific bodies that carry out similar activity in developed and developing countries, provided that this friction includes various levels of training, exchange of experiences, visits and joint projects.
9 – Organizing conferences, holding seminars and scientific training courses individually or within specific agreements and courses in cooperation with universities, institutes, research centers and bodies of the public and private business sectors concerned with this activity at home and abroad, as well as issuing a scientific periodical concerned with publishing research conducted in Iraq and abroad, in addition to periodic bulletins that cover the various activities of the Institute.
10- Providing practical methods and methods for analyzing development programs that include the uses of genetic engineering and biotechnology in the economic, social and technical fields, with the help of participating institutes and institutions.
