Under the patronage of the Dean of the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies, University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Institute organized an awareness seminar entitled “Multiple Sclerosis in Women.” The seminar was chaired by the Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit, Assistant Lecturer Rajaa Abdul Ali, while Assistant Lecturer Sarah Alaa Al-Din Abdul Hamid delivered a lecture on the topic. The event also featured a presentation by Consultant Neurologist Dr. Ahmed Abdul Razzaq Rashid, who provided a specialized lecture on the disease, in addition to the participation of a representative from the Life Association for Multiple Sclerosis. The seminar aimed to raise participants’ awareness of the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, methods of prevention, and strategies for living with the condition. It also sought to promote women’s health awareness by encouraging regular medical check-ups, consultation with specialists upon the appearance of early symptoms, and emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and continuous medical follow-up in reducing disease-related complications. This seminar supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting health awareness, encouraging early diagnosis, and emphasizing the importance of preventive care and continuous medical follow-up to improve health outcomes.
