The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies/University of Baghdad held a scientific symposium entitled “The Sustainable Approach to Water Desalination,” presented by the teacher, Dr. “Safaa Abdul Rasul Al-Obaidi,” with the participation of a number of teachers and associates at the Institute.
The symposium aimed to analyze the reality of the water situation in Iraq and the Middle East, as well as discuss the sustainable development points that nations adopt to save water.
The symposium emphasized the use of green energy as an alternative to fossil fuels in water treatment.
The symposium recommended sustainable methods for treating water salinity, which use the technique of treating water salinity using microbial desalination cells as an alternative to reverse osmosis.
