A delegation from the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies / University of Baghdad conducted a special visit to the Agricultural Research Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture. The delegation was headed by the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, and included Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Ameer Mohammed Gharib, Director of the Scientific Affairs Unit, and Professor Dr. Maareb Nazeih Rasheed, a faculty member at the institute. The Director of the Agricultural Research Directorate, Dr. Hatem Al-Ghazzi, received the delegation.

The purpose of the visit was to open avenues of cooperation between the Institute and the Agricultural Research Directorate, particularly in the fields of research and providing practical training opportunities for the institute’s students—thereby serving scientific advancement, especially in agricultural research carried out by students.

Dr. Hatem Al-Ghazzi, Director of the Agricultural Research Directorate, expressed his department’s readiness—with its laboratories and full resources—to support and host research projects from the institute’s students. He emphasized that this cooperation will serve the community and significantly contribute to the scientific field. He also described the visit and collaboration with the Institute of Genetic Engineering as a promising step that he hopes will extend to all state institutions, fostering vital scientific and administrative connections between the institute and its graduates, many of whom now hold key positions in government institutions.

For her part, Professor Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, Dean of the Institute, expressed her deep appreciation and gratitude to the Agricultural Research Directorate and its Director Dr. Hatem Al-Ghazzi. She expressed pride in the achievements of the institute’s graduates, many of whom have reached important positions within Iraqi governmental institutions, including the Agricultural Research Directorate, led by Dr. Al-Ghazzi—one of the institute’s distinguished alumni—who has applied the knowledge he acquired both scientifically and administratively throughout his academic journey.

She concluded by extending her best wishes for continued success and progress to the Agricultural Research Directorate.
