His Excellency the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Baha Ibrahim Insaf, inaugurated four scientific laboratories at the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies, in the presence of the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, the Vice Dean Professor Dr. Wathiq Abbas, the Head of the Biotechnology Department Professor Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim, along with a number of institute officials and faculty members.
During an inspection tour, the University President reviewed the readiness of the laboratories and the modern equipment prepared according to advanced scientific standards, providing an appropriate research environment for postgraduate students and faculty members in the fields of biotechnology and molecular genetics. He commended the efforts made to develop the research infrastructure and emphasized its role in supporting scientific research and postgraduate studies.
The inauguration included the Genetic Analysis Laboratory, the Microbial Molecular Genetics Laboratory, the Bioproduct Separation Laboratory, and the Bioengineering Technologies Laboratory, all of which were equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and laboratory supplies in accordance with approved scientific standards.
In turn, the Dean of the Institute, Professor Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, stated that the newly established laboratories will contribute to expanding research opportunities and enhancing academic collaboration among Iraqi universities.
This activity contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals, including Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
