The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad organized a specialized scientific seminar entitled “From Research to Publication: Practical Steps Toward a Successful Research Paper,” as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the skills of researchers and postgraduate students in academic publishing.
The seminar lecture was delivered by Professor Dr. “Hasnain Faisal Ghazi” from the College of Nursing at Al-Bayan University. He reviewed the key practical steps for preparing a complete and publishable scientific paper in peer-reviewed journals. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. “Basimah Qasim Hassan,” Head of the Promotions Unit at the institute, with Assistant Lecturer “Rasul Muwaffaq” serving as rapporteur.
The seminar covered important scientific topics, focusing on selecting a research idea and formulating the problem, writing a scientific paper in a professional manner, as well as the principles of choosing appropriate journals and dealing with the peer-review process. It also highlighted common publishing mistakes and ways to avoid them.
The event witnessed notable attendance from postgraduate students and researchers, emphasizing the importance of adhering to proper scientific methodology, research ethics, selecting reputable journals, writing a professional cover letter, and ensuring the originality of research free from plagiarism.
At the conclusion of the seminar, it was emphasized that this activity aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to quality education, promoting innovation and scientific research, and strengthening academic partnerships, thereby contributing to improving the quality of scientific output and serving the community.
